    OFFICE OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Objective

To Facilitate Community Empowerment For Integral Human Development

Specifically:

  • Offer innovative training programs addressing non traditional clientele responsive to developmental needs of the community;
  • Work towards the conscientization of women and men, equitable distribution of benefits and equal access to opportunities thru the judicious use of resources in organized cooperative effort;
  • Provide a Functional Academic Community Extension Program  aimed at faculty-students formation in the service of the community;
  • Involve the university community participating in policy decision-making and program implementation in the wider community.
  • Link with government, business and industry in terms of serving their research and  training needs and providing continuing education to bring them up to date with current trends and technology

Programs and Services

Community Education

  • Occupational Courses – short –term courses identified based on a needs assessment  study of the community.
    Seminars or workshops – designed based on specific skills needed by government and industry.

Continuing Education Program

  • This is for the professional, career and personal development of people in the community.
    Clients are the general public such as the housewives, business sector, professionals, youths, and individuals who need skills trainings.

Sponsored Programs

  • These are courses identified by cooperative, agencies, and other organizations as necessary for their business or activities.
  • The courses will thus be developed to meet their specific needs especially since they will be the ones to fund the program. The participants will be identified by the sponsoring agencies or will come from applicants who meet their criteria.

Community Involvements and Service

  • These are programs aimed at empowering the Community through the efforts of the students and faculty of NDU. Under these programs is the Academic Community Extension Programs of the different colleges in the universities. The services to be provided by the faculty and students will differ based on their area of expertise and the needs of the community being serviced.
  • In addition to the ACEP, the functions of the  external units fall under this program- CES, SBI,  and Community Extension Services. However, unlike the ACEP where services will be provided free the external units will have to be funded, either directly by contracting organizations or in partnership with funding agencies.

  • Capacity Building Trainings  for People’s Organization and Cooperatives
  • Capacity Building for Government Agencies
  • Regular 5-Month Skills Training
  • Special Training for PWDs
